clareq Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Could some kind person check which version of SIMS Discover they are using? We are on version 7.152.59 (Summer 1) of discover and version 7.53.10 (Summer 2) of SIMS. Any attempt to run discover fails, and the log files tell me I need to update my database, but I didn't think Capita produced a Summer 2 version of Discover.
Rawns Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 (edited) 7.152 is the latest version of SIMS Discover and is compatible with SIMS Summer 2 (version 7.153). Most of our schools have both and they work fine. Can you post an exert of your log discover log file? Edited November 19, 2013 by Rawns
clareq Posted November 20, 2013 Author Posted November 20, 2013 Here you are Application setting table is not present in the Database, upgrade the Discover database to a newer version. at System.Data.EntityClient.EntityConnection.OpenStoreConnectionIf(Boolean openCondition, DbConnection storeConnectionToOpen, DbConnection originalConnection, String exceptionCode, String attemptedOperation, Boolean& closeStoreConnectionOnFailure) at System.Data.EntityClient.EntityConnection.Open() at System.Data.Objects.ObjectContext.EnsureConnection() at System.Data.Objects.ObjectQuery`1.GetResults(Nullable`1 forMergeOption) at System.Data.Objects.ObjectQuery`1.System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable.GetEnumerator() at System.Collections.Generic.List`1..ctor(IEnumerable`1 collection) at System.Linq.Enumerable.ToList[TSource](IEnumerable`1 source) at Discover.DataEngine.DataEngineFactory.ObtainCachingRequest(ServiceAwareUnityContainer container)
Rawns Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 (edited) Check the Discover database table 'dbo.version' in SQL Management Studio. It will return the version it's currently on as well as the previous versions it's been on. Sounds like your Discover database is not on the latest version. The last row is the current version it's on (In my case 7.152.59.0). Edited November 20, 2013 by Rawns 1
clareq Posted November 22, 2013 Author Posted November 22, 2013 My database also shows 7.152.59, with an upgrade date of 30/7/13
Rawns Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 My database also shows 7.152.59, with an upgrade date of 30/7/13 I'd get a call logged with Capita then. Something is not right with your transfer. Like I've mentioned, SIMS 7.153 transfers without issues into Discover 7.152. Tried running the Discover installer again? Maybe strip out Discover and install a new clean instance of it and try a transfer then? Your not in a hosted environment with multiple databases or anything odd like that are you?
clareq Posted November 22, 2013 Author Posted November 22, 2013 No, no hosted environment. I already have a call open with our LA support, but they keep sending requests to ICT services, asking them to release the new version to SOLUS3. I had to tell them there wasn't a new version. I'm waiting on the result of their escalation. I've tried a new workstation install, I'm loath to fiddle with the server install as it was done by the LA.
TLARWise Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Sorry to ressurect an old thread but I am currently experiencing a similar issue on a brand new install. Clareq, did you ever get this issue resolved and if so do you by any chance remember what was done to fix it. Thanks

Thanks @HilcrRWise - Did you get this solved as I now have it on clients, but it works on the server? Stuart

Stuart No, I haven't had a chance to look in to it further yet, we don't use it at the moment so it's on the back burner. If you find out anything please let me know. 1
