Last week, we had this in the VLE Export Log:

Operation: To replace the content of a set of identified 'person' records. The target must write the new data into the 'person' records. These are destructive write-overs of all of the original information.

Exception Message: The XML file is not valid

followed immediately by another event:

Exception Message: Some or all of the Membership data is not synchronised with the IMS ES service. Adjustments have been made to resynchronise the data on the next export. If errors persist, contact your system administrator.

The next day and since that time we have the same failure:

Operation: To replace the content of a set of identified 'person' records. The target must write the new data into the 'person' records. These are destructive write-overs of all of the original information.

Exception Message: The XML file is not valid

Have tried performing full upload. Have performed sims database diagnostics. Have removed a student's email address which contained an invisible, illegal character! Have performed a database check to search for null entries in student/staff names and dates of birth. Have checked the internet and service in Sims services to see if they're running. Have run out of ideas!

This log is in SIMS? It sounds like it's at the VLE end and how it deals with the info. I wouldn't want the VLE having permission to write to the SIMS person tables.

Sounds like something has changed in the process or it's no longer recognising previous 'person' s. Has either system been updated recently? I'd contact Pearson and see if they have any idea.
