jpuig Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Hi all, I found Schoology (http://www.schoology.com) more as a Learning Management Solution, but didnt find that category on the forum so I'm posting on the second more accurate. We are starting testing this software and would like to have some opinions from collegues already using it or anyone that already analized it, even some similar systems recomendation would be welcome. Thanks to all.
jpuig Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 Just an update on how we proceeded and the results by now. After an initial 15 minutes presentation of the system, 30 teachers created their accounts in two days, which was quite surprising as we didn't expect this level of acceptance. Since then, we have been doing workshops of one hour per week (only for teachers), and currently, in two months, we have 700 active users (most of them students). Teachers are very excited with the tool and started using it without having to "ask" them to do.
TheGoodGuy Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Is it still successful? Do you host it yourself or is it remote?
jpuig Posted June 18, 2014 Author Posted June 18, 2014 Yes, by now it has been very successfull, we didnt forced teachers to use it and we already have 1200 accounts and a lot of submissions, discussions, etc. created by teachers. I really recommend it. If you have any doubts let me know. It is 100% cloud.
lew_bob Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Hello, interesting bit of kit. I notice on the website it mentions integration with various 3rd party apps such as the Google Apps stuff. Any experience with this aspect of the system? thanks, Lewis
jpuig Posted June 20, 2014 Author Posted June 20, 2014 Yes, integration with Google Drive and Dropbox its great. In Schoology you have an area called Resources, where teachers have material they already prepared (documents, links, discussions, pages, tests, etc.), all your documents in Google Drive are "connected" to this area and also you can use files on Googe Drive to create new assignments or discussions directly. It's really easy to integrate, you just "install" the app on you profile by inputing your username and password and thats all. I'll suggest you to create a free account on Schoology, install the Google app, and test it yourself, its very easy. Let me know if you have any other doubts, no problem to help.
TheGoodGuy Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Only thing I worry about in the UK is data protection laws. If there was a UK provider i'd really be pushing for this. Seems much more straightforward than our current VLE.

TheGoodGuy Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 They are registered under the U.S. – E.U. Safe Harbor framework. Great to know! I might give them a free trial then. This seems like it would simplify so many things.
