Changing Domains

Hi folks,

 

We're just setting up Office 365 now on a trial basis. We've used a disposable domain name as our school domain is currently linked in to the LA's Office 365 sub.

 

Does anyone have any experience of changing domains and MX records at a later date. Presumably it is possible?

Beware migrating a domain from one office 365 tenancy to another. It can be anything but straightforward. I've done this quite a few times. The domain needs to be totally removed from office365 before it can be added to a new tenancy. If the domain is the primary domain on the tenancy (It sounds like yours isn't) then good look. It took me 5 months to get these domains removed, and that involved deleting the entire old tenancy.

Regarding your mx records, as long as you have control of the domain and quick access to change the mx records when you are ready, that should be a smooth process.
