Nuttyjim Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Hi we have a samsung digital signage tv which is running windows xp embedded. I would like to run xibo but it requires .net 3.5 which is not supports on embedded... does anyone know if you can install a full version of xp on these tvs? James
lmgtfy Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 I tried installing XP on a samsung magicinfo television before for xibo as we got so fed up with the magicinfo software. Main problem was hard drive size which on ours was only 4gb and secondly speed even after getting it installed it was painfully slow and crashed regularly. Ended up having an Acer Revo attached the rear now works well. Hope this helps

Fleetwood Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 We have 2 of these TragicInfo's, even after upgrading the RAM it was still painfully slow - honestly, it's not worth spending more money on them. We'll most likely be going down the Acer Revo route and just use standard LCD screens. 1

Tblax did you install Windows 7 on these? having issues attempting to install windows 7 even using bootable usb devices.

lmgtfy Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 @Epick one is connected by cable ties to the wall mount, sounds dodgy but it is really sturdy due to the shape of the Revo, we used two cable ties connected together in a X shape works very well. The second is above the false ceiling on a shelf. 1

We haven't got the Revo's in yet bud, the digital signage is a "WIP" as a whole right now - what issues are you getting exactly? A quick google came up with this from a 'review' on Acer's website for the latest Revo product: Not exactly a bad point but if you want to downgrade to win 7 or probably any other OS than win 8 you need to disable an option in the Bios. We haven't ordered the revo's yet, I upgraded the ram in the Samsung tv's then tried to boot into windows 7 using usb storage devices including external hdd but it kept restarting on boot. I tried using pxe boot on the tv itself but when the installation tried to show the drives connected it would error 0xE0000100. Tis quite a mystery..

I'm not sure if it's on all of the TragicInfo range but on ours they have Windows XP Embedded with EWF enabled, so any changes we make to the hard-drive are 'temporary' layered and then wiped upon reboot. Perhaps that's why it's throwing a fit with you trying to install 7? Apologies for not sounding 100% on that but it still may be worth a try! Edited May 5, 2014 by Fleetwood 1
Epick Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 I bought some acer machines and cable tied them on the back of the TV. Yesterday I removed the TV from the MagicInfo group and switched the display to HDMI via MagicInfo before removing from the group. However this morning we're straight back on MagicInfo.. Any ideas? Getting tempted to dismantle the internals.. Spoke to Samsung support about a month back about upgrading RAM or any possible upgrades. The response in short terms: Hi, if you dismantle our product we will not help you. Buy our products. Thanks.

We have two identical samsung TV units and I remember one of them was a right royal pain trying to get it to select the HDMI on startup and we ended up using VGA but the other one was fine, so good luck :-) 1
