tobiasclarity Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Hi All, So with the recent released of Mavericks so comes some changes with Mavericks server. However it isn't a free update it is £13.99 Has anyone downloaded and played with this yet, can you report back to any changes that are worth upgrading from mountain lion server? we are only supporting 20 clients off our Mac Server so not worth us spending money if there are no notable differences that will make my life easier.
gjefferies Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Suppose it depends if you are upgrading your clients to Mavericks? If you are then it probably makes sense to upgrade the server too. Cheers Gareth

gjefferies Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 In our environment we have a mixture of 10.6/10.7/10.8 so Mavericks will hopefully mean we can standardize on what version of OSX.
Mark182 Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I have 10.7.5 installed on our server and just installed mavericks 10.9 on my test client machine. After installing it (downloading it via appstore) I have found that now my IMAC ignores my windows shares I have mounted to the desktop, changed my dock layout, and ignores my set homepage and background….anyone else had these sort of issues?
SovietRussia Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I will be installing this tomorrow, as the new Profile Manager features are very handy.
Achandler Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Hi Mark Just so you know, that is pretty much exactly what has happened here, i think you need a Maverick Server to manage the Maverick clients 1
Mark182 Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Hi Mark Just so you know, that is pretty much exactly what has happened here, i think you need a Maverick Server to manage the Maverick clients Ah, If I update my 10.7.5 server I don’t want it to KO all my clients before I have time to upgrade them…Hum…
Achandler Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Exactly the problem, think it is going to have to wait for me until Feb half term.
Tricky_Dicky Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 We have just updated OSX server from 10.6 to 10.9 and so far it's working well. The update was painless and quite quick on the Xserve. It pulled through all of our existing configuration perfectly and we are just about to update the clients.
LukeJQuinn Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 (edited) Yeah Mark, same issue here. Our server is running 10.9 with OS X Server 3.0. All our clients running 10.8 work fine but as soon as I updated a client to 10.9, I get the same issues as you. You had any joy yet? Edited October 28, 2013 by LukeJQuinn
LukeJQuinn Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 This might explain a few things for some of you - http://www.edugeek.net/forums/mac/126156-os-x-mavericks-server-workgroup-manager.html 1
