mole Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Ok so my missus really wants a tablet but doesnt want to spend much on it. I'm thinking not more than £130 max Specs: minimum 9" screen / dual core / 1gb ram pref 2gb / storage min 4gb / mini usb port for dongle / play store / android 4 or above I'm thinking for this price there's going to have to be some loss of speed or screen quality - if I buy one and either of these isn;t up to scratch I'll get it in the neck! She will mainly be browsing web, facebook etc...... I've been looking and found some unknown/non branded one's but not too sure if worth the punt - anyone have any ideas or bought a cheap tablet that is good?
tech_guy Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Tesco's latest offering? or the one coming from Argos? 1

spadam Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 I bought a couple of Scroll Extreme II tablets for some of the children here to use for a little over £100 each but the difference between them and my Nexus 10 is immense. I have had probelems with all of them losing WiFi connection, not syncing time and date correctly, the touch screen does not always respond to gestures and I keep having to reset them. Maybe there are better models out there but my thoughts would be to spend more and get a quality device. My girlfriend has asked me the same question and I'm probably going to encourage her to get the new Nexus 7 for £200 1
mole Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 thanks all will check these out, was hoping to spend my xmas bonus on me but I can see where it'll be going now!
pcstru Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Old model Nexus 7's are now retailing around £150. Slightly out of budget but IMO an excellent quality small tablet.

plexer Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 hmmm I'm sure the screen on a hudl or fire hd or any other 7"'ish tablet is bigger than an iphone? Ben
edutech4schools Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 CnM from Argos. My son has one and it works fine. Check with the cheapo ones that they can access the play store as not all can.Buy CnM 9.7 Inch 8GB Touchpad Tablet at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for Tablets. 1

mrdolan Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Look at the Archos tablets. They tend to be good specs for reasonable prices. http://www.archos.com/products/tablets.html?country=gb&lang=en

HaleStorm Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Argos are currently selling the Nook HD for £99, its a decent spec tablet and you can easily root it and put fully fledged android onto it
