Hi,

Windows XP laptop. Every time it's connected to the projector I have to manually change the resolution to 1024x768 before it will display on the projector. Every time the teacher takes the laptop away, the laptop adjusts its resolution and thus when connected to the projector again it has to be manually changed.

Anybody got any suggestions? On how to make the settings stick.

Cheers

George.

I use a utility called Display Changer by 12noon software.

It can be run from a batch file to set res at startup and also started with a specific program and it then resets after the app is closed. I use this for teachers home laptops to put the screen into the correct resolution for ActivPrimary although now I have at last persuaded them to use ActivInspire it isn't needed so much.

If the laptop uses an onboard intel graphics card when the drivers are installed it generally installs the gfxpers.exe that starts with windows which you can either

1) ensure the intel gfx drivers are up to date

2) use graphics properties so the intel utility to setup the projector and laptop display up instead of using the usual windows display properties

3) Using msconfig & task manager disable the gfxpers.exe and setup the 2 displays as you normally would

If it uses nvidia or AMD / ATI graphics then just need to do something similar but stopping the relevant exe

Thanks for all the responses. The teacher will be back in tomorrow and I will try some of the suggestions.

Thanks

George.
