localzuk Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 We have a user who has an issue with hyperlinks in Powerpoint. When running powerpoints, hyperlinks all fail. Powerpoint gives a dialog saying that the server returned a 404 error. Problem is, if the link is placed in a browser, it works fine. What could be causing this? It isn't the local firewall.
SleepyDude Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Hi, The problem is only in Powerpoint? How about in Outlook?
LosOjos Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I'm only on 2007, but when I click a link in a presentation it opens in the browser - do they open inside PP itself in 2010? If so, is that default behaviour or is it using a plugin? Does PP/plugin (if applicable) have their own proxy settings? Just trying to think of things I'd be looking for myself...
localzuk Posted October 16, 2013 Author Posted October 16, 2013 Just powerpoint. They're supposed to work in the same way as always - click the link, browser opens with the link. I've traced the problem out of Powerpoint now, and in to Squid. Squid is returning a 404 for some reason! But only if Powerpoint requests the page. An example hyperlink it says doesn't exist... LosOjos Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 If you monitor network traffic, is it sending a direct request or is there some sort of URL shortener/redirection going on? Is the Customer Experience Program enabled? Perhaps that monitors which links are used in PP and that service is currently down? [Again, sorry for the lack of a solution, just brainstorming!]
