rbjames Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Hi, I had one teacher saying that when they drag an interactive flash item onto the screen from the gallery, it isn't interactive. I checked and it is indeed the case. When the item is dragged into the notebook area you see the first frame (as it were) but clicking on it doesn't do anything. Has anybody else come across this? I'm fairly sure this has only happened since we moved over to windows 7. I also tried running notebook on a completely different computer with everything up to date (flash etc.) but still have the problem. Answers welcome. Thanks, Richard
Griff Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 - Is it the same flash item everytime? - have you tried it on an XP machine? - which flash item is it il try it on our machine here
enbiggen Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 We've had exactly the same thing happen - started on Thursday for all staff (common image and flash - happens with a fresh image too, even though that previously worked - so unless flash updated itself really quickly... I'm stumped). Is this possibly the same thing or do they just share symptoms?
enbiggen Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 (In our case it's all flash items - first noticed on the countdown timer)
villarica Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 (edited) I have exactly the same issue - all the smart flash items have stopped working correctly - for example, the Smart "Random Word Chooser" and also some external flash items (timers) I pasted in. These have all worked perfectly for ever until last week. In fact, clicking off and then back onto the page with the flash item enables a "refresh", but this is clearly not right. I have a locked-down laptop running Win7 and Smart 11, so there was no obvious change. I've now just had Smart notebook re-installed and the problem persists :-( Edited October 15, 2013 by villarica
villarica Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 I just looked at smart support and this may be the problem: KnowledgeBase - You're unable to interact with Adobe Flash Player objects in SMART Notebook software after updating to Adobe Flash Player 11.9.X Their advice is to downgrade the version of Adobe Flash Player. Please let us know if this fix works for you. 2
rbjames Posted October 16, 2013 Author Posted October 16, 2013 Thanks for the advice villarica - worked fine. I hope they fix this problem asap. What a pain... Richard
Griff Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Yeah just replicated this problem one of our machines lucky for us we are about as useful as a chocolate teapot when it comes to updating flash site wide, nice post villarica
sted Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 yup had this yesterday flash 11.9 dosent like notebook so downgrade flash problem disapears (until flash autoupdates)
Techykev Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Just hit this problem today after upgrading our Flash version to 11.9 after requests from our teachers because many Flash videos will no longer play from websites due to our Flash being out of date. So we can either have the internet working fully or the Smartboard software, but not both at the same time!!!! What a PITA. I have e-mailed Smart and am awaiting their reply on when an update will be available to address this issue. In the meantime our teachers will have to put up with either having no interactive Notebook presentations or not being able to show Flash videos from an increasing number of Websites. What a palaver!
CST Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Yes, I've recently uninstalled Flash and reinstalled an older version and Notebook inter-actives run fine. We need a fix from SMART asap!
villarica Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 The Smart website address mentioned earlier (KnowledgeBase - You're unable to interact with Adobe Flash Player objects in SMART Notebook software after updating to Adobe Flash Player 11.9.X) has now been updated (scroll right to the bottom of the page), as Adobe have issued a beta fix of Flash Player, which (apparently) works. The Smart site links to the Adobe fix. That's fine as long as you have admin rights on your PC :-) 1
Yeo695 Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 So the beta flash version works for interactive issues but.... I'm not having an issue with Smart Response Teacher Tools, whenever I open it i'm prompted that my flash is out of date and needs to be updated. Any suggestions?

StevieM Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 (edited) Had this issue reported to me at the end of last week by ICT co-ordinator. Ironically, the Flash objects worked on her Mac but not her Windows 7 laptop. It all makes sense now. I tried installing from the link on the SmartTech page, but it kept dropping the connection at 7% - most probably a proxy/firewall issue. In case anyone else has the same problem here are the direct download links for the ActiveX (IE) version and the version for all other browsers. Edited November 18, 2013 by StevieM
villarica Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 My laptop was auto-updated to Flash Player 11.9.900.152 on Friday 15 November, and flash objects within Smart Notebook and now working again. Hoorah!
