What is meta Data?

Tags that can be put onto files, content or general information to make items searchable and easy to place together in a structured manner.

 

eg

 

You put Year 8 english resources up ... you might tag them with the following.

Year 8, English, term 2, macbeth, grammar, finite verbs, determiners, syntax, morphology ... and so on.

 

Pretty much like keywords, but it is meant to fit a set structure based around the National Curriculum.

If your talking about Moodle and meta courses, a meta course is, put simply, a course where only courses are enrolled.

 

Therefore:

 

Science (metacourse)

Publish a number of materials here that you want all courses to access,

 

Science year 10

science year9

science year8

and so on,

 

You enrol all the science course in your science meta course, now all science year etc can view resources in Science meta course.
