Free image compression software/website?
paulpmp4 replied to paulpmp4's topic in How do you do....it?
Thank you all of you for taking the time to help. -
I have created some images for my school website but some of the images take a while to load. Does anyone know of any free wesbites or software that will compress the image to make it smaller without losing image quality? Thanks in advance.

yeah. I wanted the kids to be able to scan randoms pices of work, drawings and save them for a later date. I also thought the visualisers might be more expensive.

I have been given the chance to run a small project in my primary school. I want to purchase 4 or 5 Eee PC style notebooks so that I can use them on trips and around the grounds. I also want to tie in the use of our Learning Platform. I can get the notebooks easily but I can't find any suitable options for connectivity. I don't want to enter into an expensive and lengthy contract with any mobile phone providers. Surely there must be something out there for education to use. I could use smart phones. PDAs but this has already be done by another local school.

I want to create a similar educational video site like Youtube that we can use in school. I have found OSShare Project which is free but I was wondering if there were alternatives people have used?

I was hoping someone could help or advise me. I know about copyright and tv or video on websites but what about if I copy a couple of pages from a book and post them on my school VLE. I ask this question because I know that you are legally allowed to copy a selection of pages from a book for personal study.

I am trying to write an ICT newsletter with a green(eco) theme. I have some information but I was looking for specific figures on the use of certains types of equipment. Things like energy savings of LCD over CRT monitors or how much each monitor would cost if they were continually left on standby. Also any other links to ideas articles on this theme would be fantastic.

Rochdale Primary Schools Learning Platform

MIS Integration is compulsary of all platforms by 2010. I have spent a lot of time with teachers and technicians who are concerned about various VLE platforms. Everybody seems to be worried about the features they don't have yet instead of using the ones they do. Also I have spoken to a lot of technicians who are asking very techie questions. If the LA has done their job properly, the service will be managed and the techies will hardly have to get involved at all. A good supplier /platform is all about the learning and not much about the housekeeping technology. -

Great company, excellent support. Have found them very receptive to new ideas and development. They have been around about 10 years. They also have Portsmouth. -

I am looking for some free software that will show the info of our large school DVD collection. I remember reading on here that someone had used a similar system that read all the details as soon as you put the DVD into the machine, saving you the time of typing the info into the software. Any ideas? I have done a search already but can't find it.

I tried that but it doesn't work. It might not be possible. I will have another go. Thanks for your reply.

Does anyone know if it is possible to import my Lotus Notes calendar at work in to Google Calendar so that I can check it at home?

I can echo that. Great prices but if there are any problems with delivery then it can be really difficult to sort. I ordered a tv from them, they gave me a delivery times so I chose my school as the delivery address. They then changed the delivery time to a Sunday and I couldn't get them to change ther address. They use Currys to deliver a lot of their goods. I had to end up going into school on a Sunday with loads of ID. They the promised me a credit for bad service that never arrived. I have a few friends that have use them without any problems at all.
