Oh kay! Well I admit that the Spaniards were a bit of a pain at the UK VGC in that they where 'there' and didn't let us UK players just battle it out amongst ourselves - to add insult to injury they did 'win' and made a lot of noise about it (in Spanish). But moving on...

 

 

Less than one day to go!!! I am too excited and really gotta stop checking my email every 5 minutes for my download code! :D

 

 

Well... if there are Pokémon fans here, maybe we should exchange Friend Codes sometime and have a bit of a battle. Whatcha think?

'Cos if you do, I think I'm going to have to call it a day on pokemon. That crap got really old really fast.

The last time I was really into Pokemon there were only 251, and the third Pokemon anime movie had just been released. Am I hopelessly behind or could I play X/Y without intermediate knowledge? I have seen quite a few of the later movies, if that helps...

You could probably just jump straight in.

 

Warning: there's about 650 pokemon now.

That doesn't surprise me, given how many generations there have been between then and now.

 

I may well have to give this one a go! Of course, getting a 3DS is a prerequisite, but I'm sure they'll be doing bundles with the game+console. Something to put on the 'look for in the January sales' list I think! :)

If you want mega Blaziken you need to get it before January 15th [i think]

 

That's when the event ends and there's no guarantee that it's going to happen again.

 

Le EDIT: and you can't restart because the event download it tied to the save file instead of saving to the sd card as dlc.

Hmm, thanks for the info, I shall do some more research and see whether it might be worth getting sooner.

 

TBH it does look good.

 

I'm just waiting to see how much of the content requires old versions [and a paid subscription...]

From the looks of it, you can old transfer 'mons from older versions if you have a subscription to an online pokemon storage service.

 

Its rumoured to be about £5 a year, but I'm against it as a matter of principle.

 

You don't lock content out by having it only obtainable with older versions and then charge people to actually get it.

This is the first I've heard about that, gotta say, I agree.

 

Picked up Y this morning (well, yesterday..). Played just over 10 hours of it. I figure I should put it down now.

 

Actually REALLY enjoying it.

 

Friend code will be given to anybody who wants it. Just PM me (Gaming's public AFAIK)

More like over 700 Pokémon, there were 649 in Black/White 1/2 [Generation 5]. But yeah you can just jump straight in and enjoy this game without any problem, it's the same time old rock-paper-scissors Pokémon format - well fire-water-grass - with the addition of a new 'Fairy' type. I wouldn't worry about any annual subscription to the Pokémon Bank (when it's released) it's not compulsory and only really used if you have 1000s of 'mon you can't fit in your game and transferring 'mon from Gen 5 games. I don't think that you'll need content from previous generations, from day one you meet Pokémon from Generation 1 - I'm so happy to be reunited with my old favourite 'mon Butterfree within the first couple of hours of play! :D

 

X-13 if ever you need a Pokémon that can't be caught in X/Y just talk to me - I've got em all! ;)

I like Butterfree, and level 10 confusion is awesome, but Butterfree just doesn't scale very well D: way too squishy come mid-game

Yep quite true, I've never been able to successfully use Butterfree competitively but as an ingame party member it's excellent. With the 'compound eyes' ability it's going to put things asleep 100% of the time. As well as being able to poison, confuse and put things to sleep in Gen 6 it's got an awesome new move called 'Infestation' - check it out! Also due to the game mechanics of Super Training I've already fully EV trained one with maximum Speed and Special Attack. Luv it! :D

 

Can't believe I was playing Pokémon X for 11 hours yesterday - my wife thinks I don't love her anymore :( Better not play it today - if I can (naa that'll be impossible it's too darn awesome).

It's my generic DS code. Also just picked up the Infestation TM and given it to Beedrill. :)

 

Regarding that bank app, I am ignoring it. TBH I have never tranferred between gens anyway as I have never finished them.

I've given in to the hype... ordered Pokekon X.

 

I'm going to need someone to give me the Mewtwo Y mega stone. [i heard you can buy them post game]

 

Mega mewtwo Y looks like kid buu and is therefore superior.
