Not for £1,200! I know that's fairly cheap as 3D printers go, but I'll wait a few years until they drop below £500 before I consider getting one...

The high purchase cost has to fund the tech support they will have to provide to consumers, the cost of build material is ridiculous as well.

So who will be buying one then?

I foresee consumer disappointment. My experience of low end 3d printers is they require frequent adjustment and maintenance.

A Mr Nophead does complete Mendel 90 kits for £500. It's a good design and the kit is extremely well thought out and documented. The process of doing the build will set you in good stead when something goes wrong. You can do it cheaper but not by massive amounts.
