elsiegee40 Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Has anyone gone to iOS7 on an iPhone 4 (not the 4S)? Are there any performance gotchas? I'm not in a position to be able to upgrade the phone for a few months (when I will probably go android) and will will live with 6.1 until I do if it's causing issues!
sidewinder Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 My girlfriend did hers over the weekend and it is surprisingly fine....I had read bad things about it but I did a side by side test with mine on iOS6 last night and although there are things that are perhaps slightly faster on 6, it was hardly noticeable. Typing seemed smooth too, which was my biggest worry 1
rush_tech Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 I upgraded my daughters to IOS 7 there was a slight delaying in the typing and the text appearing but a reset all settings fixed that other that that all is fine now 1
sidewinder Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Done mine now too and have to say it really feels like a new phone. No real speed issues to speak of, and the control centre solves everything I used to need to do with a jailbreak. Just having a torch easily available is a godsend!
chazzy2501 Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 I've seen it on the 4, it looked ok but the transitions were jerky and looked a lot less slick.
creese Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Upgraded the Mrs's iPhone. Told her she could upgrade it further by getting and Android 1
Rawns Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 I want to upgrade my Mrs's iPhone 4 but she wont let me. She does not like the new interface style and refers to iOS7 on devices as 'Fisher Price my First Apple'. It bugs me so much as she never ever ever EVER updates her apps. At last look, she had 37 outstanding!!! I told her she should upgrade to iOS7 just so apps can auto update but she is having none of it!
elsiegee40 Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 I bit the bullet and went to iOS7 last night. Don't seem to have any problems with it. I do not like the new look... our pre-schoolers coukd have designed it. I will tolerate it... but I am destined for android in the longer run in any case.

flyinghaggis Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 (edited) Cant comment on the iPhone 4 but I'm really impressed after installing it on my 4S. IOS6 was starting to feel really dated especially next to Android. IOS7 and it makes the whole interface much more logical and usable even if they seem to have 'borrowed' most of the new features from Android Personally I think the new look is a big improvement and finally brings a standardised design to all of the built-in apps. From an aesthetic point of view some of the old apps on IOS6 looked truly awful. Especially the yellow notes app and the tacky looking brown/green poker table game centre. In fact other than the slightly poorer battery life IOS 7 is a massive improvement in every single way. Having said that like the OP I'm tempted to move to Android once my contract runs out though..... Edited October 1, 2013 by flyinghaggis
