Youtube Edu - Can't access our own playlist

Hi Everyone.

 

I've recently been trying to implement the Youtube for schools. We're using Smoothwall to apply the Header Change, which appears to work. All of our students are diverted to YouTube EDU...... but when ever they try and access anything other than the default content they're told to get their Administrator to add the video to a playlist.

 

Right so I log in as Administrator, pick a video and click to add it to a playlist. I'm told to make a channel, which I do (Winterton Community Academy) and complete the playlist.

 

OK now my student searches for the video, and nothing is found, they search for the channel and nothing is found.

 

So the obvious question.... what am I doing wrong ?

Not sure that's a problem with your proxy tbh - can you access the channel on 'normal' youtube? That sounds like a Youtube edu issue. Quite honestly it seems very complicated to manage and I wouldn't know where to start advising on this other than to suggest checking that the search isn't being blocked in your web filter logs.

Sorry, I wasn't thinking that it was a filtering issue.... just a youtube issue.

 

I'll try when I get home but yesterday, I couldn't find our channel in a search. Maybe there's something that I'm supposed to do to make it live, but I can't find anything anywhere.

I've never tried searching for our channel but can you access it by typing the address in the address bar?

 

What I've done is add a favourite in Internet Explorer (Via Group Policy) to the channel so its easy for them to get to.

I have just started this too... and cannot get it to work. Maybe someone can help me.

 

Is the playlist public, private or unlisted? Where should users be searching for the playlist.

The playlist would be public as when the users are on site they cant log into youtube.

 

They can find the play list by going to the channel you setup. This is typically http://youtube.com/user/ -insert channel name here-

Cheers, got it now.. They just need to change the drop down to playlists.
