Project Management Software

Can anyone recommend any Project Management Software for Y12 students to use. Are there any freeware options? MS Project, even on EES, seems overly expensive.

may require some config to get it to do what you want but I have personally used it for project management in the past and its very easy to get your head around user wise.

There are lot's of Open Source Project planning packages. Depends what you need them to get out of it - I'd think understanding how to manually construct ADM/PDM networks and how to manually do the forward and backward passes that yield the critical path would be more useful than any specific package.

 

[ETA - I think it's misleading to call them "Project Management" packages. It makes it seem like Project Management IS project planning, when Planning, Gantt charts and resource scheduling etc, are only part (and a small part) of Project Management.]

One of the units the students get marked on asks if they used a project management program to complete the task. They get marked down if they didnt.

Currently trying to track down something useful but wanted some recommendations from Edugeekers.

Downloaded that one but seems to be a bit slow responding ie clicking "exit" doesnt close it instantly - it waits a few seconds then closes. Seems a good simple option though.

However, I have used Proofhub , web based project management software with amazing features.

Gantter - web-based project scheduling made easy is pretty good and gets used here.

It's online and links Google accounts.

When you license using EES, you can get a free Dramspark subsciption. With the Dramspark subscription you can run Project. The only proviso with software from Dreamspark is that it is for teaching use only, and not for production use (e.g. it can be on computer lab machiens and ICT teachers machines, however those teachers couldn;t use it to manage real life projects)
