MatthewL Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Evening All, Had a mare of a job today, customer has a windows network running PCounter and a number of Mac's connected to the network using a Mac server. Now my Mac knowledge isn't brilliant hence why turning to here for some advice. I want to print this picture, if I insert it into Word as a clip art in Windows print file is only a few kb but as soon as we do it with a Mac using Word on there the file then becomes 21mb. Any ideas why the file is becoming so large? Also the follow me queue is shared from the windows print server and then connected to the Mac laptops using the Mac server, it prompts for user credentials which you need to put in and then the job is passed. Does anyone else have a working PCounter/Mac setup where jobs go through quickly or is Mac printing an iffy one? If anyone can advise it would be appreciated. Oh direct print is a lot quicker but all print jobs need to be accounted for hence why doing this. Thanks
Marshall_IT Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 We use handy print to pass jobs from the Mac server to the pcounter server if that's any help!
jayemm Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Hi. We have pcounter and print from macs no problem. Not sure what your issue is with file size? We use open office on macs but we do have postscript enabled mfds which we were told is essential for macs? Anyway we map our printers from the windows server too so it goes to the follow me queue used to have an issue where it asked for credentials but found something called ksmb print which was for OSx 10.4. In OSX 10.5 the functionality is built in to the print daemon. Apple have an article here
MatthewL Posted September 18, 2013 Author Posted September 18, 2013 Thanks for that, will take a look into it.
