Stuart_C Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 So this year I have had a few ex students struggling with the concept that when they leave I will delete their account. So they want their work... No as I archive it off having it is no problem its how I transport it to them assuring data compliance. Can I get them to set something up,i.e. a shared SkyDrive/DropBox folder and I upload it? trusting that the e-mail I have received it genuinly from them (I think it is but we have to live in an untrusting world). Do I play hardball and say the only way you can have it is if I send it to your home address that we have in our database (on encrypted memory stick)? The first is quicker but it's the world we live in and the things we have to comply with that worry me.
TechMonkey Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Write their names on the CDs, put them behind reception and get them to come in and collect them. Tell reception to only give out to someone asking for the correct name.
strawberry Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 I'd make them collect it in person and sign for it,that way they can leave the cash to pay you for your time!
Stuart_C Posted September 17, 2013 Author Posted September 17, 2013 Would love to, they are however in a differnet country and their parents live in another different country, so it's a bit of a trek. I'm kind of looking to a way to help them however their lack of planning is not my fault and I need to cover me/the School.
Stuart_C Posted September 17, 2013 Author Posted September 17, 2013 I'm thinking excryped files on memory stick...
witch Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 TBH I would send the query up the chain of command and see what the powers that be say? Maybe there is a parental email they would be happy for it to be sent to?
Stuart_C Posted September 17, 2013 Author Posted September 17, 2013 Could do. I was trying to avoid any extra work for me like editing his work to get what he needs. As his files totak 2Gb it's not easilly E-mail-able.
plexer Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Put it on facebook they'll find it. That was a joke btw
