Head Boy/Girl Access control

If you run and access control system do you give your head prefects etc... any accesses to those systems?

Yes i.e. special privileges basically we have 2 sets of double doors linking 2 corridors with reception in between so a lot of students try it on to use as a shortcut which they are not supposed to do but it's been suggested that the Head Boy/Girl have an access control card to specifically allow them to do this.

Some Head Students at a few ex-City of London based schools have the right to drive a flock of sheep over London bridge. I expect it was useful at some point. Though on reflection that may be apocryphal.

 

All our students have cards that *could* be used to open various doors if we choose to let them. It is precisely this feature that was the motivation for issuing the cards in the first place, and VIth Form do get access normally locked exits/entrances at certain times of the day.

 

As a student (long ago) I had a limited set of keys (as did the stage crew, and some sports team captains) to specific and relevant areas of my secondary school, and because, for security, that never included the front door, when working late on something it was often necessary to exit an area of the school via the staff corridor and Common room.

 

So.. if there is a good reason for granting it, then it should be granted. Head Boy/Girls hold a position of trust and so you should be able to trust them with enhanced access.

The only reason given so far is so they can cut through, it's not my decision anyway it would be the federation campus services director.

Ah, teaching them the tried and true ropes of exploitation of power, can't have future leaders thinking they are not inherently better than the lowly peasants they rule over - only half serious.
