Resetting Passwords

Hi,

 

I was wondering if anyone has managed to set this up either with any free software or otherwise. We are looking to give some of our ICT Teachers the rights to be able to reset the passwords of students from their own workstations so that they don't keep sending 10s of students to us at a time for password resets. Ultimately this takes the student out of the lesson and disrupts the teacher while they are trying to get a password reset and we are not always available which leaves the student with no network access for the duration of the lesson so anyway of speeding this up would benefit everyone.

 

We are using Active Directory and are on a 2008 R2 Domain.

 

Is this something we can achieve by ways of a small utility running on certain desktops that only give reset password rights and only to certain groups of users?

You have to sign up for a free account, but otherwise this will do the job: Password Control

 

Just remember to give the staff delegate control in AD for the OU the students reside in so they have permission to change passwords.

If they change the password then what happens in a lesson outside ICT if the pupil can't remember that new password that was given to them

 

 

We get them to raise a helpdesk ticket, no pupils out of class. we only ever change student passwords if they are compromiesd.
