agarabaghi Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 (edited) So we finally moved over to server 2012 and im in the process of install MDT 2010 on the new server. I was wondering if there is a way to copy over all the stuff i have on the MDT 2010. The 2012 server is on a new VM... is there a simple way to copy the applications task sequences and everything else ive worked so hard on? Edited September 9, 2013 by agarabaghi
fiza Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Its quite easy. We did it recently. Cant remember which guide I used but this one looks similar. Try this : The Lacie Tech Blog: Migrating MDT 2010 from one server to another server
john Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 I did a basic install on the new box and copy and pasted them back and tweaked configs just as it says in that linked post and voilla worked fine and dandy
free780 Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Just remember to add the applygpopack=NO to customsettings.ini .
agarabaghi Posted September 10, 2013 Author Posted September 10, 2013 what does the applygpopack=no do? im not sure i ever changed it to yes?
agarabaghi Posted September 10, 2013 Author Posted September 10, 2013 I just followed the guide... and had the network guy change the ip from the old server to the new server and im gertting this error: downloaded wdsnbp from 10.104.0.116 windows deployment services:pxe boot aborted exiting agent
free780 Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Mdt 2012 applies a local gpo pack which is new in 2012. However it may configure settings you leave as default. Which may cause problems.
nicklec Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Installed SCCM '12 over the summer but haven't used MDT much, most of the functionality seems to be already there! Did you check your licensing before upgrading to Win '12? Our licensing lets us have plenty of 2008r2 machines but the '12 rules are much less!
agarabaghi Posted September 12, 2013 Author Posted September 12, 2013 So we got it to boot, but it seems to be for some reason pulling up the old MDT stuff, and it says my credentials are wrong when I try to log in... i hate upgrading grrr
agarabaghi Posted September 12, 2013 Author Posted September 12, 2013 I had the AD admin make sure the account was added on the server, i doulbe checked my bootstrap.ini file and it is indeed imaging02 and the network unc path under Mdt properties is \\IMAGING02\DeploymentShare$ any clue??
free780 Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 If you have a minint folder on the machine you are trying to deploy to it may try and contact the old server. Also re create your boot images and add to wds.
agarabaghi Posted September 12, 2013 Author Posted September 12, 2013 I actually started with a fresh formatted machine. I mounted a win pe x64 ISO to the server and created a new .wim file from the boot file...
agarabaghi Posted September 16, 2013 Author Posted September 16, 2013 I cannot get wds / mdt 2012 to work right =( I have my network guy switch dhcp to the new server ip addess and i try to boot in. PXE says its talking to the new imaging server (imaging02) but when MDT loads it looks exactly like 2010... of course im only getting to the login screen... Can anyone help?
agarabaghi Posted September 17, 2013 Author Posted September 17, 2013 got it. taking a step away for the weekend is all it needed.
