I've only just come across this ebay service. You print off a label and then take it to a local shop (the website shows locations). They scan the label give you a receipt and tracking number and that's it. £4.95 for a medium size parcel as opposed to £8.00 for Royal Mail's cheapest offering. There's a small amount of compensation as well. Collect+ Courier Services

It's a good service for small, non fragile parcels but having looked into it when trying to send a camera recently, even when you purchase extended cover they still pretty much exclude any electrical items from compensation, and they don't have a great reputation with regards to damaged parcels either.

MyHermes is another similar service which I use, mainly because there are no Collect+ shops anywhere near work

MyHermes will come and collect the parcel from you rather than having to be dropped off somewhere too, which is better. I do use collect plus for quite a few ebay items though, mainly clothing and things that cant really be damaged in transit

Ha, I remember I had to drop something off for one of these once. All I got was, frankly quite nasty, abuse from the shopkeeper and kept moaning about the fact people were dumping their parcels.

It doesn't all seem particularly safe, I certainly wouldn't want to use it for anything 'of worth.'
