psydii Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Problems with roaming profiles and slow logins require an additional hotfix to resolve. Hotfix linked from the Enterprise Rollup KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2775511 Oddly enough the article 2775511 has itself regressed as is claiming to be revision 10 (it was 11 yesterday)
Arthur Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Just to confirm. If you have already installed Windows6.1-KB2775511-v2-x64.msu, you only need to install Windows6.1-KB2732673-v3-x64.msu to fix this regression?
AngryTechnician Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 The KB2732673 article describes a problem that should only occur when the client is loading a roaming profile from a remote site and "has a fast link speed to the profile server and has high network latency" (emphasis mine). That doesn't describe the vast majority of school client situations. Are you experiencing slow logons that are resolved by that hotifx?
psydii Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 No, however it is a recommended hotfix. "After this update is installed, you must install update 2728738 to fix a regression issue in the Profsvc.dll file" That is to say, the regression may not be specifically the problem described by the hot fix mentioned, simply that is the latest recommended version of the component that does not contain the regression that MS have identified. Hotfixes are (supposed to be) cumulative for the files contained within. @Arthur I'm going to be pushing it out to all my machines this week, but that appears to be what the recommendation is. The lower KB number hot fix at v3 contains a later build of the impacted component.

You experience a long logon time when you try to log on to a Windows 7-based or a Windows Server 2008 R2-based client computer that uses roaming profiles
spc-rocket Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 I take it this is not available on wsus and has to be downloaded manually? Thanks, Ash.
