Virtual Desktop for Training

Chaps,

 

We need students to be able to access a Win 7 'control panel' for one of their modules. We can't give access to this for obvious reasons so could do with a virtual desktop to mess about with.

 

Anyone know of anything online that could provide this? Or any other way of giving the students this experience without mountains of technical work to facilitate?

May be worth searching for virtualbox - a lot of us are using virtual machines to aid in programming setups, you can follow the same instructions to give access to a full, unrestricted virtual PC with no network or external connection with veritable ease.

Oh, they wouldn't give me that information would they - would be far too logical! When I see the lesson objective things will become clearer. Just thought I'd look at possible scenarios in advance....

Can't you just create one PC , On a local account and let students have a play one by one.

Another one for Virtual box we have used this here for Programming etc Create a generic account create your Windows 7 how you want install what Software you want etc I also put some key logging software on these Microsoft Visual studio express 2010 but what you like then Export the image to a shared area then install Virtual box on other machines and import the image as the user you created. Then students logon with Generic account you created. We also make the IT staff aware that they should make sure students are fully supervised when using this and use staff Abtutor to do this.

It all depends on what it is they want them to have access to and to be honest limited users with their own profiles it shouldn't be too much of an issue to let them have access to it as normal.
