Dual booting on CC4

I am looking to try and create a workstation that features multiple instances of Windows (ideally 3 partitions - 1 being XP and 2 being Windows 7) however I haven't tried setting up a dual booting setup on CC4 so not too sure how this is best achieved.. if at all.

 

I want the machine to have 3 independent Windows operating systems that are selectable when the computer powers up however RM support inform me this has "not been validated" and thus offer no help or advise at all.

 

Anyone here tried it with success or could advise if I am wasting my time trying?

As far as I know, this isn't possible with CC4. What are you trying to achieve by this?

You should be able to create 3 partitions, install 3 copies of Windows normally and then SmartClient one of the Windows 7 instances giving you a CC4 machine.

I dual boot imacs to OSX and CC4, installing OSX on one partition and smart clienting Windows on the other partition, with no problems.

I'm actually looking to have all 3 instances as individual CC4 machines. We have 2 clean machines atm, one for WinXP and another for 7 and a 3rd for general use, however I'd like to consolidate them if possible seeing as we only ever need to use 1 at a time. Unfortunately the CC4 build seems to want to reformat every other partition upon build, hence the separate partitions can be made, but previous installs are lost with each new build session.

 

Smart clienting may be the one viable option but faffy and I was somewhat hopeful they would be an easier way!

Would it be easier to build the two clean machines as virtual machines? It would be faster to restore them to clean as well - just keep copy of the image.

I think you would be far better with VMs for your clean stations. A much neater approach IMO.

I recently managed to dualboot a plain Windows 8 installation with Windows 7 CC4.

Where I basically installed each O/S on seperate harddisks.

Then with the Windows 8 installation, with both disks connected up I used EasyBCD to add a bootup entry to the additional O/S.

I know this is a VERY late reply, but it is in fact possible to dual boot a CC4 and another OS on one hard drive.

The process though is quite long winded.

 

If you are still interested, please feel free to reply and I will give a walk through of the method required.
