paulpmp4 Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 My dad is having loads of grief trying to install a new printer. I live 80 miles awayy and can't see what is going on. Is there a free programme that will let me cintrol hids machine from mine. I am running win XP Pro. We are bothe running through wireless routers. I am sure I saw a programme called crossfire but I can't find it.

Zorba Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 Logmein is all accessed through your browser. An applet is installed on the client machine so firewalls/routers/nat are not a problem.

EduTech Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 \Yh instead of messing around opeing ports etc.. i would use Logmein.. i have use it in the past and havehad no problems works a treat. your dad will also be able to watch what you are doing so he could learn what to do just incase the problem occurs again. ajbritton Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 You might like to try CrossLoop. It's more secure than LogMeIn in that it requires a user to be present at the remote PC to authorize the connection. It's basically a wrapper around some flavour of VNC I believe.
