Amen to that BBC News - UK 'losing fight' against internet crime, warn MPs No good our elected representatives warning about it it's them directing policy. Our elected representatives at both Westminster and in Europe should be bringing in effective policies that direct the various 'Agencies' to go get these geezers and punish them with some suitably high profile prosecutions that actually deter others from having a go. That was exactly my thought from simply reading the headline, let alone the article!

Requiring banks to report all e-fraud, however small, to the police

Obliging web firms to explain data security tools to new users

Prosecutors to review sentencing guidance for e-crimes

Increased funding for European e-crime co-operation

Mandatory code of conduct for removal of indecent material

New body to report on and remove online terrorist content

And that just pretty much backs it up. Although I do agree with banks having to report all e-fraud. The main problem, though, so far a I see it, is still social engineering. Getting people to hand over deets they shouldn't. People are stupid (probably a little harshly-put) and they'll still hand over these details with a filter in place.
