Dos_Box Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 In a purely light hearted way of course http://www.tes.co.uk/section/staffroom/thread.aspx?story_id=2425550&path=/ict/&threadPage=1
_Bat_ Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 I think some of what was said in the thread on our forum was a bit unnecessary to be honest. Could you imagine what our retorts would be if it was the same thread in reverse on the TES website

Some of them getting quite nasty.
_Bat_ Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 There have, in fact, been quite a few 'I hate my techies', type threads on the TES forum. Some of them getting quite nasty. I know... I've read a lot of them. Quite interesting. Dear old bisley. Notice how annoyed techies get when it happens? Well, what do you expect when we do the same with teachers and their jobs? .
Friez Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 This truely is yet another great example of the massive divide that exists between Support Staff and Teaching Staff. Everyone has their stories about stupid staff/techs/whoever, but what remains consistent across the board is how teaching staff in general still look upon the support staff as the underdogs/dogsbodies. Ever had a notice that states 'for all staff' when really they just meant Teaching staff? Out of sight, out of mind that is what we are, and I agree with russdev's comments about how undervalued support staff are. Tension will always exist while this unequality issue exists. I mean, you'dd get into trouble for doing the same to all female staff, or all black staff but its perfectly acceptable to treat support staff like scum just because of their job roles it would seem. This is what I think is the underlying problem that exists between Teaching Staff and Support Staff, and until it is addressed (by SMT's everywhere, who are mostly Teaching Staff too) then things will never change and everyone will say how horrible those damn Techs/Teachers are till the end of time.
Gatt Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 It is for this reason, highlighted in my own school today, that I am now stronly considering getting out of education...
Oops_my_bad Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 I liked the comment about a software engineer husband having a "proper" IT job with "real" qualifications. Perhaps some techies are software engineers by profession and have a worthwhile scientific degree, but choose to do technical work because the enjoy that line of work more OK less pay but definitely more rewarding
FN-GM Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 one of the members maybe a traitor on the site, lets find them hunt them down and turn up to there house at midnight with flaming touches and pitchforks lol
