Hi all,

 

Over the summer we are replacing our CCTV server (can't really put it on to the virtual environment due to the running demands and storage demands of the machine) so we have just bought a server.

We have 2x 500GB SATA drives mirrored for the OS and for the data we have 10x SAS 4TB 6gbps drives. What RAID configuration would you put the data drives in? We need redundancy so we do not want a RAID0 but do not want to lose recordings if a drive fails - so what would you do?

With RAID 6 you'd get 32TB useable...

 

But slower write speeds. And since it's for CCTV video, I'd go less space more speed on this one.
