Yeo695 Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 (edited) I'm sure someone knows the HP beep codes by heart. I'm getting 5 beeps and that by definition from HP say "BIOS recovery successful". It does this every time upon start up. What i'm thinking is who cares, it was successful, no need to let me know with 5 loud beeps every time I start the computer. Or is it just that every time the computer gets shutdown the BIOS is failing and every time it starts up it's recovering. Computer is working flawless by the way, just the annoying beep code. Any way to get rid of? *besides a new mobo* So that's when I come to you guys asking for help or suggestions, I'm not very knowledgeable in HP beep codes or BIOS failures/recoveries. Edit: HP Brand Desktop. Model Slipped my mind. Resolution: I was able to fix it by resetting all ram and resetting the bios. Edited July 15, 2013 by Yeo695
ICTDirect_Dave Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Five beeps is a memory module problem. Try reseating the RAM one stick at a time and see if that fixes it. It's also caused by dust in the RAM slots. Check our knowledge base for all the main HP Beep codes http://www.ict-direct.co.uk/kbase/hp_post_bios_beep_codes/ 1

ICTDirect_Dave Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 I'm working on it. http://www.ict-direct.co.uk/kbase/Dell_Desktop_Troubleshooting/dell_beep_codes_explained.html That's what I've got so far. I'm trying to find enough spare time to go into more detail about each one
ICTDirect_Dave Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Also here's my page on the Optiplex Diagnostic Lights http://www.ict-direct.co.uk/kbase/Dell_Desktop_Troubleshooting/Understanding_Dell_Diagnostic_Lights.html
ICTDirect_Dave Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Finally this. http://www.ict-direct.co.uk/kbase/lenovo_thinkpad_beep_codes/ But again, it's still in its infancy. I'll be trying to make some repair and service guides (again when I've got the chance) and also providing links to as many service manuals as I can find. 1
Yeo695 Posted July 15, 2013 Author Posted July 15, 2013 I was able to fix it by resetting all ram and resetting the bios. Everything is good to go and that guide is actually fairly nice. I'll be sure to use it in the future. 1
