Scotmk Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 We went live with our new joomla edugeek site today. Still awaiting a few things from teachers, but all good. Oakgrove School
danIT Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Looks good, id have really liked to transfer our site to Jmoola, but due to time constraints etc.. we never did, well done looks really fresh! everything does seem a little BIG though?
StewartKnight Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 I've been really cheesed off trying to get Joomla working in a test environment. I won't be going live any time soon!
Scotmk Posted September 3, 2007 Author Posted September 3, 2007 are you open for suggestions? Always open to suggestions, nay ignore them but open
Joedetic Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 You could replace the joomla default favicon.ico (or whatever it's called i forget) with your own custom one?
Scotmk Posted September 3, 2007 Author Posted September 3, 2007 You could replace the joomla default favicon.ico (or whatever it's called i forget) with your own custom one? Yeah, I am doing that this week, lol Tis down because it got fiddled with by the guy that did the old site, so I have to restore a few files. The FTP password is now changed, so that will not happen again.
bensewell Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 The last time i looked at your site it was down for maintenance, but the graphic and text were different to the default Joomla one. Can you tell me what to change so i can implement it into my site? I've looked at the offline CSS, but i don't know where it pulls the text from, I've not checked but is it in the global configuration? Cheers,
Scotmk Posted September 9, 2007 Author Posted September 9, 2007 When you downloaded the joomla package from here, you should have had another folder called 'Blank Headers' this is the .PSD (photoshop) files which contains the logo part, you will need to change this to whatever you like, you school logo, words etc, then once done needs to be copied over the exiting files, located in the template folder under whichever template you are going to use.
Scotmk Posted September 19, 2007 Author Posted September 19, 2007 ok, after a few changes and updates, we are now live again. Oakgrove School
FN-GM Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 you might want to tweek this page http://www.oakgrove.milton-keynes.sch.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=144&Itemid=195
Scotmk Posted September 20, 2007 Author Posted September 20, 2007 Thanks This has been tweaked... It was the Search engine component, did'nt want it on that screen anyway. :0)
Guest Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 Looking good Scot, nice to see the package being used. My only thing would be to redo the logo so that it blends seamlessly with the header.

Yeah, I know, I am doing this, annoying though, as when I did it, it was fine in Firefox and and blends ok, just in IE looks a bit different, thats IE for you, FF is more compatible with colours. Both Photoshop and Firefox its correct? I am fiddling, any other ideas?
deano Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 Scot, i not too keen myself on the links to the School Council, Governors and results. It looks a little sparce. I think it would look better if you change add some more detailed text
Scotmk Posted September 21, 2007 Author Posted September 21, 2007 Thanks for your advise. Not too sure which links you mean? did you mean from the front page at the bottom? There are a few pages I am not too keen on, but the content is not in my control really, I do keep mentioning to the powers that be to add/fill it out a bit, It will happen, just takes a bit of time, in the meantime I have actually turned a few pages off until I get some real info. :0)
deano Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 Scott, Yes, the front page links! I'm in the same boat mate as you but i have told them that the site is not going live until the site is ready
