Office 365 questions

Hi guys

 

I have some questions about 365 that I am after some help on.

 

We currently have local exchange server, with 365 does that replace the local exchange or can we have both running still and the 365 service still access all of address lists and AD groups.

 

We want to use the office web apps for students to use email, and the office web apps on shared iPads also linked in with the sky drive

 

Also can you lock down the My site and stopping users from blogging etc...

Hi,

If you want access to both exchange organizations (OnPremise & Cloud) then the only way you can do this is by using the Hybrid Deployment Scenario. This although would require some investment in infrastructure on premise along with SSL Certificates etc. also, please note that this is generally used for Long Term Co-Existence and no decommissioning method is in place.

 

We want to use the office web apps for students to use email, and the office web apps on shared iPads also linked in with the sky drive

 

Ensure that your users have the Tick Box applied within the licences for Office Web Apps.

 

 

Also can you lock down the My site and stopping users from blogging etc...

 

To Disable Social Features, You can do this by logging in to the SharePoint Administration Center, Manage User Profiles and then i think under people you select Manage Permissions and you can control access via their.

Yes it can replace your local exchange server. I would advise strongly that you completely replace your onsite server for the biggest advantages of office 365.

 

Yes just license the users for Office Apps instead of just exchange online plan.

 

Yes you can disable sharepoint features
