ConradJones Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I was just doing some work on one of these, I setup some vlans on them, but the ip forwarding between the vlans didn't seem to work, each vlan had a vlan interface with a suitable ip address but i couldn't get the switch to act as a router between the vlans. Is there a secret hidden enable ip forwarding option anywhere?
AngryTechnician Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 (edited) IP routing is disabled by default on HP switches. I actually can't find where to enable it in the web GUI (it may be there but I rarely use the web GUI), but in telnet you simply go into the configuration context and type ip routing. Alternatively it's in the telnet menu under Switch Configuration > IP Configuration. The model you have only does basic layer 3 routing; you can't set ACLs as far as I know, so it's all or nothing. cneilson6 Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Has anyone tried setting up a trunk on one of these switches? if so did it work and how did you set it up? I have one of these and have tried setting up a trunk but I'm missing something I'm sure. Through gui port management>setup select ports and set link type to trunk. What am I missing? haven't used one of these types of switches before normally purchase fully managed procurves.
