TechSupp Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Got a W7 PC on whic the printers keep dissapearing or look as if they are there yet are unavailable. Refresh the screen, they are gone, restart Print Spooler, they are back but cant test them as next minute they have dissapeared from view again or report them as error not available when I do get chance to select it. Thought about removing the printer, but when its there I click to remove the device, they dissapear and its still there when the spooler is restarted and I refresh the devices and printers screen! Are there other ways to remove certain printers as I think it may be just one thats causing the issue.
witch Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 You sure it is the printer and not the profile of the user logged on? Have you tried it with different log-ins? Can you get to the printers via another path?
ajs Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I would make sure you're using the latest drivers for the printers to try and ensure they're W7 compatible.
Michael Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Try resetting the spooler to default. How are the printers installed? Locally or GPO/GPP? Usually it's a driver that creates problems for the Spooler.
sparkeh Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Hmm sounds like it could be a driver issue, does the event log give you any info on the offending driver?
