PowerShell Connection for Exchnage Online

Hello,

 

When I try and connect to PowerShell (As an Admin) for Exchange commands in school I get the following:-

 

New-PSSession : [ps.outlook.com] Connecting to remote server ps.outlook.com

failed with the following error message : WinRM cannot complete the operation.

Verify that the specified computer name is valid, that the computer is

accessible over the network, and that a firewall exception for the WinRM

service is enabled and allows access from this computer. By default, the WinRM

firewall exception for public profiles limits access to remote computers

within the same local subnet. For more information, see the

about_Remote_Troubleshooting Help topic.

If I try connecting up at home, things work fine, so I'm guessing its some kind of block on the schools filtering or firewall.

 

Does anybody know what might be needed to be put in place to allow this to work? Is there any kind of Network Connectivity test tool for PowerShell like there is for Office 365?

Is windows firewall enabled?

 

Even if not, find the WinRM firewall rules on hte pyublic profile, by the looks of hte message and set them to allow the traffic past the local subnet.

Hi,

 

The windows firewall is not enabled on these computers, but I've been into the settings to check the public profile and made changes, but I still get the same error so I'm guessing it's something on the LEA's level of filtering / firewall that's blocking the connection. Is there anything else I can do to narrow this down, or find out exactly where abouts it's stopping?

That happened with my tenat a couple weeks ago. I had to contact MS and get them to fix it. They fixed it the same day as I recall. It's something on their end....

Thanks... But if I try running the commands at home without going out thr any LEA filters/firewalls I can connect no problem, just not in school!
