Novalee Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 I am trying to create an exception to a software restriction policy under 'additional rules'. For an .exe file to run from a flash drive for some portable software for one student in particular. I have put the file name in and set as unrestricted, but it just will not run. Could this be something to do with it being on a flash drive? Any advice? Thanks.
Steve21 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Depends on the actual software normally. Found some of them will copy files locally to temp etc and run those, which wouldn't work if that's not allowed etc. Any idea of what the program is running? Steve
Novalee Posted June 17, 2013 Author Posted June 17, 2013 I just ran it from my desktop and a hidden .pcfg file appeared, so I guess it's this.
MordyT Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Sorry to semi thread jack, but how do you allow only one student to run the software? Unless you set a whole new GPO/srp for that student? Or is it allowed for all?
Novalee Posted June 17, 2013 Author Posted June 17, 2013 Well it will be allowed for all, but only one student will have the shortcut. Seem to have done it now - have put the .exe file on the server and copied the shortcut to the students work area.
