I have a Win 7 machine that is having issues starting the Base Filtering Service. It appears that other services depend on this so is causing other problems.

When I try to start it I just get "Windows could not start the Base Filtering Engine Service on Local Computer. Error 0x80320009: An Object with that GUID or LUID already exists."

I was Googling this the other day and I am sure I found something about taking files/reg keys off a working machine but can't seem to find this again.

Any ideas before I nuke it and reimage? :)

Thanks for the reply, but that didn't seem to help. Also the service hasn't been removed, its still there, just won't start. Doesn't appear to be malware related.

I've tried sfc but that reported that everything was fine, I replaced secdrv.sys (from another suggestion I found), in desperation I even tried the MS Fix it for me thing, but its crashed...

I've devoted enough time to this, going to reimage later.
