Lion Server App - Anyway to get it back without a clean install?

Ok, so I've been a complete and utter muppet, in that whilst trying to sort out our Lion Server back onto our AD (for some reason it had decided to not connect with it anymore) I deleted the Server App - I thought I'd be able to redownload through the App Store, as you usually can do with such things, but alas, the version on the App Store is now for 10.8 instead of 10.7, so I'm not able to access it anywhere.

 

So, does anyone know of a way to get it back without doing a fresh install of the Lion Server. It was bought as a Lion Server and is literally just the Server.app that I need.

 

Any advice greatly appreciated, but I'm preparing myself to rebuild the machine (though it might wait until Summer now).

Should I assume you've already tried mounting the install media, finding and then dropping the Server.app back where it needs to go?

I rebuilt my 10.7 lion server a few months ago, had no problem getting it again from the apps store. Have you tried just downloading it and seeing if it gives you the right version? The 10.8 one should not be offered if you are running 10.7 and have previously purchased it.

I've not got the install media as it's a MacMini Server so it's all on the hard drive (unless there is a way to mount the restore partition?)

Thanks for that. As I bought it as a server (Mac Mini Server) apparently, this isn't the case - which I was a bit surprised about given that Garageband etc were added to our App Store account, but hey. So the only thing offered is the 10.8 version.

Type

diskutil list

from a terminal prompt and report back how big the restore partition is. If it's 650MB, I think you're on Internet restore only. If it's larger you can mount it by turning on debug in Disk utility.

If there's no other partitions you don't recognise* of an appropriate size, it's probably Internet-based.

 

You've poked around the filesystem for files larger than say....2GB just in case there's not a cached copy of the install media about on the normal partitions? I know it'll do that if you go from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion, but unsure about a server that ships with Lion.
