reggiep Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Hi, I'm trying to find out how much parago would cost our school. Does anyone use it who may be able to give me a ballpark figure? Thanks
jamiet147 Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 A few years ago we were paying about £750 a year, in the end this script "http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows/92976-network-pc-inventory-script.html" was good enough for what we wanted (take note they need 1 years notice to cancel the contract)
Liam Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 We use them as of last month. In most cases it's been good so far. I guess anything better than an excel spreadsheet. It's good for those schools who are or going to become an academy. I am not sure what it cost but it wasn't cheap. There are annual costs too. Again I'm not sure. Spice works will do the job though. You could produce your own qr labels if you really wanted that take you to the device on spice works.
PaulCooper Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I've just had one of their guys in our school giving us a pitch. The costs vary depending on school type. For a secondary it is £1500 pa but you need to sign up for 3 years. Parago claim that they don't start to make profit until year 3. I have no comparative costs from other vendors (yet) so I can't say whether it is reasonable or not.
crt404 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 We approached several companies for asset management just before I left the academy I worked at. Parago were cheapest, by about 30% IIRC. There was one company (school asset manager), who wanted c.£175/£200 a month! Even when we knocked them down to half price, Parago were still cheaper. The other reason we didn't go with S.A.M. was that their asset labels were about 1.5" * 2.5" - ie. Huge! They looked shocked when I asked them how we were meant to asset compact digital cameras. These systems are all well and good if you have the time and effort to put into it and set it up. They gave the setting up of our system to a non techie site worker. The end result wasn't great.
AssetManager Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Evening all, i actually work for Parago and would be happy to answer any queries anyone might have about the system. Not here to pitch it at all, but here as a guest/light user that would be happy to communicate with anyone here that finds it less intrusive that phone calls/unsolicited emails ;-)
Liam Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Its a very good system now thst iv used it for a period of time. One stop shop and it's only getting better. Friendly staff too
PaulCooper Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 We were looking at a solution not just for our school but for all academies in our trust. We invited Parago, School Asset Manager and CSE Asset Manager to pitch to us. Of those, Parago and SAM seemed the best 2 and we have signed up with Parago. Costs were quite similar, especially as both were keen to become the trust's chosen product. I'd have been happy with Parago or SAM but some of the schools in our academy trust don't have full-time IT staff and the Parago interface is much easier to navigate for 'casual' use so that was the main deciding factor.

Oaktech Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 We use it and they've been bloody brilliant at adding features and they can't be more helpful. Pricing is reasonable too. I recommend it. If you want to know more specifics PM me.
