NTBackup - v01 files in catalogs51 folder not deleting

Hi there,

 

Just wondering if anyone can shed any light on this issue. I am running a windows 2003 server that has a windows backup job scheduled to run every night. It looks like the backup job is creating some files with the extension V01 files in the following folder:

 

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\catalogs51

 

I am asuming that these are some kind of temporary files created by the backup job. The problem is that they don't seem to be removing themselves. These are filling up the C drive and every few days i need to go in and delete them.

 

Anyone any ideas on how I can cure this problem.

You won't cure the problem. These files are catalogue files & are required during a file restore, as far as I can tell.

I know this is relating to Win 2K server, but should be basically the same for 2k3 as well.

Thanks for the help. Ive just amending the registry so it only stores 5 days worth of logs instead of 10. It was getting a bit big!
