how do you guys store the information about software currently we have it all over the place and really need a decent database or somthing that we can use to catalogue the software / licence code and locations stored does any1 have any ideas or premade code ?

I think the BECTA Primary FITS Toolkit has something available for keeping records of software and licences, but haven't got as far as implementing that bit yet. Presume the secondary FITS toolkit has similar. The link for the primary toolkit is:

Going on my experience of other bits of the toolkit, you will need to tweak the templates to suit your own purposes, but it would be a starting point.
