SSL Cert on apply2.ucas.com expired this morning

In case you get "I can't get to UCAS" problem reports, it appears they've let the certificate lapse.

It makes me wonder how they let this happen!

Seen the same here Reported it to them at 09:02 after one of our staff mentioned it in a helpdesk call.

 

Seen our LEA let their SSL certs die as well...took 3 weeks to get a new cert during which time I blocked access to the site.

Even Microsoft suffered a worldwide Azure outage due to an expired certificate. It's one of those things that seems so trivial that people literally forget to document the date on which they need to renew it and set a reminder.

 

What really surprises me are the reputable cert providers who don't issue automatic reminders (*cough* Verisign *cough*).
