IT Server Management Software

Hello,

 

I am looking into for a IT Server Management Software. Something manage Incidents, Change Requests, reporting, Problems...within my secondary school. The school is getting built so am being pre-emptive and getting a idea of software before being asked to buy and install it all.

Its pretty cheap for schools as well. You can set it to monitor servers and it will automatically create a ticket with a job when a server is playing up.

Install was ok. I have only done it in a test machine, i had to make sure my box had 4GB or more or the install will fail.

I found that SCSM was overkill for a school. It is cheap but I find the are plenty of other software that are a bit more expensive but will suit your needs better

Well you can't say its an overkill for all schools? Some are much lager than yours and have more requirements etc. I don't think its an overkill.

If it does the job better for what they need, why not? Price isn't everything. If you put something cheap in and it's no good for their needs, you might as well have not bothered. On the flip side an expensive solution may do loads more but not be why they want, so it's no good either. You go for what is right for your environment.

That's not true. Some products do cost less than their bigger competitors, and do the job just as good if not better. Pricier doesn't always mean better. I think you've been brainwashed!

I didn't say that....... I said why would you pay more for a product that does less.
