Classroombookings - CRBS

I have seen that @webman seems to have been busy updating the classroom bookings site which looks neat and good news about 1.0.1 and hopefully version 2 will be out soon as i am wanting to update the booking system so looking forward to seeing version 2.

 

On the Classroombookings site it says that it now works with PHP v5.3. What benefits does this give? Also, whats the best way to update the current version 1 of classroom bookings to version1.0.1 ?

 

What will version 2 bring?

Hi timbo343 I should probably put answers to those on the website!

 

But here goes... (pull up a chair...) a long time ago, I released Classroombookings version 1, which worked fine on PHP 5.2. Time went by, people were still using it, I was (and still am) working on version 2, but never updated version 1. As PHP matured and more people started using versions 5.3 and 5.4, the ageing CRBS version 1 grew incompatible with it. This meant that some people who had modern PHP setups couldn't run Classroombookings at all.

 

I recently received a copy of v1 which had been updated to work with PHP 5.3+. This essentially just a small update to v1 which addresses a few minor issues with the original project, and it is likely to work on most PHP and MySQL setups out there today.

 

If you have an existing CRBS installation and want to run it under up-to-date PHP, then get 1.0.1. If you're setting up a new booking system, give 1.0.1 a go and see if it's what you're after.

 

In terms of upgrading from 1.0.0 to 1.0.1 - in theory, you should be able to replace all the files in your CRBS setup with the ones from the 1.0.1 download. But take a backup first! Your config files will remain safe and unchanged.

 

Version 2 is still a work in progress. Stick to v1 for now
