webman Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 It's reliable because OS X is BSD - a unix derivative. Same goes for Linux and other BSD flavours for the desktop - eg. PC-BSD With a mac you're not paying for reliability; you're paying for so-called 'design', aesthetics and proprietary closed-source applications and seemingly the right to brag about being a mac user 8) If I want reliability I use BSD or Linux on known working hardware.

Grommit Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 Maybe people pay for reliability, in my opinion Mac OSX is much more reliable than Windows XP & Windows Vista. I don’t currently own a Mac but I am considering buying one. Since I have been working in a CLC with the Macs I have found they are much more reliable. When I began working there they gave me a Macbook Pro, with bootcamp. I love it in Mac OSX it hasn’t crashed once. The plus with apple is that you can use bootcamp to run Mac OSX & Windows, you can’t currently do this on PC’s but who knows maybe you might be able to in the future. I have also found that both Windows XP & Windows Vista is much more reliable on Macs than to PC’s. You do realise that all the top of the range games cannot be played on a Mac ...

Anyway the good thing with the newer including the new iMac they are intel you can run bootcamp so you can run Windows and they will run the games.

They have this weird belief that you must have a Mac to do design / art /media which is absolute rubbish! . I agree.... There are a few staff members that think that they cannot do the work without a Mac..... but these people have their email addresses with the word MAC in so I can see where they are coming from... la la land
