Extracting Files from exe

We have some Lenovo all in one PC's which I want to add the drivers to our master image for the summer but I only have exe setup files downloaded from their site. Is there any way to extract the files so I can add them to the master image? Got all other types of PC done just these left to do.

It depends on the installer - sometimes you can just use something like universal extractor to 'unzip' them just like you would a zip file.

 

Others require them to be run using extraction switches, and others extract when you open them and put all the files in a temp file somewhere. I find it easiest to start with the first option though - a good number of that sort of tool will extract fine.

Thanks, bit more digging have found that innounp does the job but not sure if it helps me now anyway as I bet I would have to run the setup file manually anyway.

I some time use 7-zip that get me in most thing even to rip out files from exes

7Zip, use it for everything like this, works a treat.

Setup.exe /?

Should give you an extract switch like /extract . Start the exe and check %temp% folder.

If you start running the .exe but don't start clicking 'next' and 'okay' - then you can usually find it's extracted files in the temp directory.

If you download the drivers through Lenovo's ThinkVantage Update Retriever, it will create an XML file in the same folder as the driver installer that lists the command required to extract the files from the EXE.

Why have they got TVUR AND TVSU? Whats the difference between em ?
