Projectors: When is a Lumen not a Lumen

Hi, we are looking to replace some ageing projectors with LED projectors.

 

However, when comparing the specs and discussing with potential suppliers, it seems that the Lumen figures quoted are not the same for uhp lamps and LED. Go figure. I thought a Lumen was a standard unit of measurement but apparently not.

 

Now I am completely bewildered by the seemingly baffling inconsistency between manufacturers and supplier info!

 

How have you guys faired with switching to LED and would a rule of thumb apply to simplify decisions that 1W led = approx 10W incandescent?

 

Your experiences/help appreciated.
