Photocopiers and drivers

We have just had a new photocopier delivered and setup. Its bascially just an updated model of our old one. I've just printed across the network to the photocopier and it worked OK. My question however is should I bother to update the drivers and cause myself a possible headache? or leave it because its working... Edited April 25, 2013 by Gaz

You problerly should but check with the manufacturer's website to see if there are any problems using the old drivers. Deploying the new driver could be an easy holiday job to have on the list. Edited April 25, 2013 by Grey-gear

I just bit the bullet and did it. Looks like everything went OK.

Although many drivers are generic these days for different manufacturers, different models have different features (as you can appreciate). Installing the latest drivers and firmware on the photocopier (despite it being new) does make all the difference.

Well the basic print function worked with the old driver but it looks like in this version you can also send jobs to the printer for storage so they can be printed later. While you could do this with the old copier it was only when you were locally at the printer not remotely from a computer.

If it is a Sharp you will more than likely be ok but there are a few new features on their drivers that maybe handy.

 

Without knowing the model its hard to actually confirm.

Its a UTAX, which is bascially a Kyocera. It was worth updating the drivers because they have a nicer layout for selecting sorting and duplexing etc etc.

Cannot comment on their machines as never used one but I would to save any anomalies with printing you may get in due course.
