SimpleSi Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Another day, another set of toys (Sorry I mean IPads) in primary education! Will it connect to the internet in this school - of course not Maybe I've forgotten how to spell proxy.lancsngfl.ac.uk or maybe I've forgotten the port number 8080 Who knows!!!!!! I'll bet in 2 weeks time, it'll suddenly start working when the Dark Lords press their magic button that lets IPads connect to the mother-ship. Grrrrrrrrrrr Simon
SimpleSi Posted April 24, 2013 Author Posted April 24, 2013 Aah - Mr Apple has gone for the time honoured tirck of requiring you to turn the power off and turn back on again - how quaint! Si
sted Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 if its owt like leeds learning check the time a well they block time.apple.whatever and that causes all sorts of issues. Spent ages on a mac laptop monday why wont this pile of poo connect to any smb share turns out the clock was 15 months wrong as it tries to use time.apple.... couldnt find and just picked some random date rather than oh i dont know asking the person who unboxed it
SimpleSi Posted April 24, 2013 Author Posted April 24, 2013 I'm having a verry bad day - the reason it worked after switching off and on is that it re-conected back to my phone wi-fi hotspot Give me strength!!! Simon
SimpleSi Posted April 24, 2013 Author Posted April 24, 2013 I've nipped up the road to the original school that had the problem 2 months ago and it works fine I'm wondering if its some sort of invisible netfiltering going on - gonna go back to orig school and disable all filtering and see what happens Simon
SimpleSi Posted April 24, 2013 Author Posted April 24, 2013 Of course , it now works now I've come back :bangsheadondesk: Si
Meldrew Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 one of reasons I wont buy Ipads in school. Agreed. They are designed for home use and not a good fit for education.
